WFMW - Letterboxing

This week's edition of WFMW is about beating summer boredom for our kids. I am going to, once again, recommend letterboxing. Go here to see my original post on the subject and see what it is all about. It is an inexpensive pastime sure to keep your children's attention. It's like geocaching (if you've heard of that) without the GPS. Because it utilizes clues instead of coordinates, it is like a hunt for hidden treasure! This is the link to the letterboxing website, which explains everything and gives you the 'rules'. You can also find clues for your area on the website.

We've only gone twice...but we have may more outings planned for the summer. The letterboxes are spread throughout the country (and the world, I believe), so we plan on finding some boxes whenever we are traveling. We have had a lot of fun...not just the kids, but Aaron and I, too. We get out in the great outdoors and enjoy God's creation. We work together to solve clues and puzzles. We get to just enjoy each others company. It's a hobby that is exciting for the whole family!

Make sure to head over to We Are That Family and check out the other suggestions. Make sure to add your own...and bookmark it for when the kids are whining of boredom this summer.

  2. When researching this one summer I found a site devoted to urban clues, rather than rural ones. Have to go look for it again and see if they have added any in our locality.
