If you have young children, start a tradition of reading Christmas themed books through the holiday season. As you are shopping garage sales and thrift shops throughout the year, keep your eyes pealed for books to add to your collection. I've also found ebay a great resource for getting a lot of Christmas books for a great price. Some ideas for using your books:
- Wrap them up and use as your countdown to Christmas - reading one each night
- Have a Christmas book basket readily available
- For the preschool set, plan little activities to go with each book and make a little lesson each day in December leading up to the big day
- Just enjoy them!
Here are a few favorites from our collection:
- The Legend of the Candy Cane
- This Is the Star
- The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey
- Twas the Night Before: A Picture-Story of the Nativity
- Night Tree
- Santa's Favorite Story
What are your favorite Christmas picture books? Do you have any fun traditions you do with your books?
I love your idea of wrapping up a book for each day! I just pulled out our Christmas books.
