Day 7 - Rest - 31 Days of Keeping Your Head Above Water

"By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.  And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done." ~Genesis 2:2-3

When God created the world, he rested on the seventh day.  Did he need to rest?  Of course not.  He rested to set a pattern for us.  We need rest.  If we push, push, push eventually we run out of steam.   Set aside time in your life to just rest.   If you can't devote an entire day, then try to find a part of every day or half of a day.

What does rest look like?  I think rest will look different for different people.  Find something that relaxes you.  Find something that helps you shut out the worries of the world.  Maybe it's curled up on the couch with a book.   Maybe it's sitting on the porch watching the world pass by.  Maybe it's going for a run.  Maybe it's playing a board game.

Find regular time to rest your body and mind.  Rest will help you keep your head above water.
