Even though I just enjoy looking at the beautiful images, sometimes getting a glimpse into seemingly perfect homes makes me discontent with the home I've made. There are areas of my home that I love and areas that I loathe. There is always something on the list that I would love to change. And I often dream of designing and building the perfect house. Or moving into a lovely cottage. Or finding a large, older home with plenty of room to spread out. Or having a large, spacious kitchen. Or of having a gorgeous mudroom.
Being content doesn't mean never changing anything in our homes. I think God has designed many of us, women especially, to love beauty and to want to surround ourselves with it. Contentment does mean being satisfied with the home that we've been given. Being content means I can enjoy seeing others' beautiful homes and see the beauty in them without envying them. I think contentedness goes hand in hand with thankfulness. Remember, today, to be thankful for the roof over your head.
